Katerina Stefanidi earned Greece’s first – and probably sole – medal on Sunday at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, finishing third at the women’s pole vault final.


Greek athletes shine in Glasgow

Greece collected four medals at last weekend’s European Indoor Track and Field Championships in Glasgow, including a gold medal by long jumper Miltos Tentoglou (top left). His 8.38-meter jump in the final was the best in the world this year. Stefanidi nominated Europe’s best female athlete

Katerina Stefanidi and Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou, the two pole vaulters who took gold and silver for Greece at the European Championships in Berlin on Thursday, have dedicated their win to all the people who suffered in last month’s deadly fires in Attica.
