Olympiakos comes from behind to rise to the top
Champion Olympiakos beat Kerkyra away on Sunday to return to the top of the Super League table, at least for 24 hours until AEK hosts Platanias in Athens, as PAOK slipped up at Panionios.
Kerkyra led in the first half on Corfu through a Christos Gromitsaris goal, but in the second half Olympiakos scored via Pape Cisse, Uros Djurdjevic and Marko Marin to win 3-1 and advance to 23 points from 12 games.
PAOK escaped with a 2-2 draw from Nea Smyrni on Sunday, but its hundreds of fans at the stands jeered its players for failing once again to win on the road. After PAOK dominated the first half to score through an Efthymis Koulouris penalty kick, Panionios led 2-1 via Srdjan Spiridonovic and Samed Yesil. However Leo Matos salvaged a point for PAOK with an equalizer in the third minute of injury time. PAOK is now on 22 points while Panionios is sixth on 17.
Atromitos and Panathinaikos shared a 1-1 draw at Peristeri on Saturday that left Atromitos third (on 21) and Panathinaikos joint seventh (on 15 points). Nigerian Abiola Dauda gave the host an early lead, the Greens equalized on the half-hour mark through a Guillermo Molins penalty but could not find a winner even after Atromitos was left with 10 men on the 68th.
Both other games on Saturday also finished 1-1, those between PAS Giannina and Xanthi and between Apollon and Lamia.
On Sunday Asteras Tripolis downed Levadiakos 2-0 to join it on seventh, alongside Panathinaikos and Panetolikos, with the latter beating Larissa 3-1 at home.
If AEK beats bottom Platanias on Monday it will go alone on top.
