Super show by Singleton for Panathinaikos
Chris Singleton had a tremendous game for Panathinaikos on Sunday as the Greens’ preserved their perfect record at bottom club Kymi.
The US forward scored 35 points in just 23 minutes with 5/6 free throws, 6/7 two-pointers and 6/8 triples, along with six rebounds and three assists, to become the Most Valuable Player of the Basket League for the weekend.
Panathinaikos won 90-73 to make it six out of six in the league and stay one point above Olympiakos and Promitheas.
The Patra team, the season’s surprise package to date as it has only lost to Panathinaikos, defeated host Trikala 87-68 on Saturday, while Olympiakos had Hollis Thompson score 16 points and collect eight rebounds in its 72-54 win at Kolossos Rhodes on Monday.
The only two home wins of the weekend belonged to AEK that came from behind to beat struggling Panionios 83-73, and to Aris that saw off Gymnastikos/Faros Larissas 71-60.
Lavrio produced a stunning performance on Saturday at Korivos Amaliadas to win 91-67 and moved up to fourth, along with AEK.
PAOK entered the top-eight of the table for the first time this season with its 79-73 win at Rethymno.
The league will now take a one-week break due to the national team’s games for the 2019 World Cup qualifiers: On Friday it visits Great Britain and next Monday it hosts Israel.
