Green hoopsters recover to beat Aris away

Panathinaikos shook off the two defeats within 48 hours in the Euroleague last week to beat host Aris in the Basket league on Monday and remain one point behind leaders Olympiakos and AEK.

Led by birthday-boy Chris Singleton (16 points), Panathinaikos overcame the Champions League challenger with a 71-59 score in what traditionally is one of the trickiest trips for the Athens giants.

Olympiakos and AEK remained unbeaten after seven rounds of games ahead of their top-of-the-table clash next weekend, as the Reds saw off host Lavrio 80-64 on Monday after AEK defeated Promitheas Patras 76-60 at home on Saturday.

Trikala scored a historic triumph as it downed fifth-placed PAOK 84-73, but there were also precious home wins by two more teams struggling to stay up: Apollon Patras dismantled bottom club Korivos Amaliadas 92-66 and Kymi notched up its third win, this time over visiting Rethymno (73-62).

Finally, Kolossos has risen to sixth by beating promoted Doxa Lefkadas 77-60 on Rhodes.
