Olympiakos and PAOK leave it late
For yet another weekend Olympiakos teetered on the verge of a league defeat, this time at home too, but eventually managed to defeat an unexpectedly strong Kolossos in Piraeus on Sunday.
Tired from their Euroleague trip to Spain, where they beat host Baskonia on Thursday, the Reds had to work hard to defeat the Rhodes club at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, 75-67, thanks to eight unanswered points in the last three minutes.
Archrival Panathinaikos had a completely different game, hosting promoted Kymi at home on Monday and winning by 40 points (92-52).
AEK stayed tied on top with Olympiakos after four games with its 78-59 victory at Trikala on Saturday.
PAOK needed a last-gasp effort by Jordan Sibert to avert an upset by Apollon Patras in Thessaloniki, eventually winning 84-83 in a thrilling game, as Thessaloniki clubs made it two out of two over the Patra teams on Saturday given that Aris also saw off host Promitheas 89-79.
Elsewhere Korivos Amaliadas shook off the strong challenge of Doxa Lefkadas (74-71) and Rethymno defeated visiting Lavrio 88-79 on Crete.
