Acropolis Rally applies for WRC return
The organizers of Acropolis Rally, Greece’s historic automobile event, have applied for a return to the World Rally Championship (WRC) as of 2017.
The national federation in association with the regional authority of Central Greece and the City of Lamia have submitted an application to world governing body FIA for the Acropolis’s inclusion in next year’s calendar, after three years in the schedule of the European Rally Championship (ERC).
The plan submitted provides for a four-day race starting with a superstage inside the Olympic Stadium of Athens, just like a decade ago.
A decision on the calendar is expected by end-October.
