Huge win for PAS Giannina on its European debut
PAS Giannina made Greece proud on Thursday as in its first ever European game it defeated Norway’s Odd Grenland 3-0 for the second qualifying round of the Europa League.
The first leg of the tie took place at Ioannina in front of a capacity crowd in this historic occasion, and the PAS players made it all the more memorable with a great performance in both defense and attack to take a huge lead to the return leg in Norway a week later.
The Greeks led from as early as the seventh minute through their captain, Alexis Michail, and finished the first half 2-0 up courtesy of a goal by Martin Lopez.
PAS raised its game further in the second half and scored a third in the break, with Noe Acosta on target, while keeping a clean sheet for a famous night for the city of Epirus.
