AEK beats Panionios to lead race to play-offs
AEK remained alone again in second at the Super League table, as following the deduction of three points in midweek for the fan clashes at the game with Atromitos, it overcame high-flying Panionios 2-0 on Sunday, while Panathinaikos dropped two points at Tripoli.
AEK had to be left with 10 men 20 minutes from time to break the deadlock with Panionios a couple of minutes later, and add a second on the 80th, both with Czech striker Tomas Pekhart.
Panathinaikos shared a goalless draw with Asteras Tripolis and will likely start the playoffs behind AEK, in the battle for a spot in the Champions League qualifiers.
Champion Olympiakos strolled to a 5-2 win at Panetolikos, having led 5-0 two minutes to the end. Its goals came from Costas Fortounis, Manuel Da Costa, Seba, Alan Pulido and Felipe Pardo. The Agrinio club got some consolation via Amr Warda and Leandro Kappel.
PAOK also left it late to beat Levadiakos 2-0, goals coming from Marin Leovac and Robert Mak.
In other games PAS Giannina moved closer to a play-off spot beating Platanias 2-0, Atromitos beat relegated Kalloni 4-2 on Lesvos, Iraklis overcame Panthrakikos 1-0 at Komotini and Veria drew 1-1 with Xanthi.
Next Sunday will see the last round of games of the regular season.
