Aris stuns AEK leaving Panathinaikos alone unbeaten in Basket League
AEK’s unbeaten run in the Basket League came to an abrupt end on Saturday as the Athens side went down at home to an ever-improving Aris, leaving Panathinaikos as the only undefeated team in basketball’s top flight.
Aris won 83-74 in Athens and is now on two losses in eight games, while AEK is on one loss, same as Olympiakos, that defeated host Kavala 71-57 on Sunday showing that its defense is growing better and better every week.
Panathinaikos was pushed all the way by promoted Lavrio on Monday, but the host eventually succumbed to the Greens with a 79-72 final score and Panathinaikos captain Dimitris Diamantidis making it 500 games in the top flight.
PAOK showed it is well on the path of recovery downing Arkadikos 74-54 at home, as Korivos Amaliadas stayed on fifth seeing off visiting Rethymno 83-79.
Apollon Patras’s great start to the game at Kifissia was just about enough to see it beat its host 82-79 in northern Athens, and Trikala got the better of Kolossos Rhodes at home winning 89-86.
The match between Panathinaikos and PAOK, postponed since November 23, has been rescheduled for December 14.
