PM Mitsotakis affirms Greece’s readiness for 2024 UEFA Conference League final

Prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis affirmed Greece’s readiness to host the 2024 UEFA Conference League final on May 29, in an interview aired on Thursday.

“We have been well-prepared to ensure that everything goes well,” said Mitsotakis, adding that any attempt to disrupt the event “won’t work out.”

Mitsotakis also commented on Olympiacos chances of winning the trophy against Fiorentina, drawing parallels with Greece’s 2004 European Cup triumph.

“Olympiacos has the momentum, there is no doubt. It reminds me of 2004 [European cup win],” explained Mitsotakis, who has decided to watch the game with friends at home.

The final between Olympiacos and Fiorentina will take place at OPAP Arena in Athens, AEK’s home stadium, with many fearing of potential clashes between AEK and Olympiacos fans. According to reports, Greek authorities are expected to take exceptional security measures for the event.
