Deutsche Welle journalist Stamatis Asimenios dies at 50

Stamatis Asimenios a journalist for Deutsche Welle’s Greek section and frequent contributor to Skai TV and radio has died at the age of 50.

The news of the reporter’s death was announced on Sunday. He had been battling illness for the last 18 months, according to his colleagues.

Asimenios had been a journalist for the last 27 years. He worked for Greek diaspora media in Germany before joining Deutsche Welle. He also taught at the University of Duisburg-Essen for 20 years.
