Smile of the Child charity appeals for support
The Hamogelo tou Paidiou (Child’s Smile) charity said in a statement on Thursday that it must pay 65,800 euros in property tax and road tax before the end of the year, appealing for support for its work.
In addition to the sum it must pay in the coming days, the charity indicated that it was struggling to stay afloat.
“In parallel, Hamogelo tou Paidiou must also pay, as it does every month, a barrage of taxes from which it receives no exemption,” the statement continued, referring to value-added tax, tax on car rentals and other charges.
“Every euro in taxes is a euro that does not go toward Hamogelo tou Paidiou’s work” to support thousands of disadvantaged children, the charity said.
