Greek president, French ambassador mark minute’s silence for Paris victims

President Prokopis Pavlopoulos stood on Monday side by side with French Ambassador Christophe Chantepy for a minute’s silence in remembrance of the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks.

The two men, accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Amanatidis, stood in silence in the Presidential Palace at the same time as thousands in France and other parts of the world did the same.

After the minute’s silence, the Greek Navy band played the national anthems of Greece and France.

“For us Greeks and, I would like to believe, for the whole civilized world the three principles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen in 1789, in others words Freedom, Equality and Brotherhood, are always alive and relevant, especially at these tragic times,” said Pavlopoulos.
