Foreign minister reiterates Greek support for Ukraine
Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis reiterated Greece’s support for Ukraine in a telephone discussion with his Ukrainian counterpart Anrdrii Sybiha on Friday.
The Greek ministry followed up the conversation between the two officials with a post noting that Gerapetritis “reiterated Greece’s steadfast support for Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
The ministry’s announcement added that Greece will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against revisionism and will actively contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts.
The two foreign ministers also discussed recent developments and expressed their intention to hold further talks in the near future.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a bilateral security defense cooperation agreement just over a fortnight ago, on the sidelines of the European Council in Brussels.
The agreement, according to the Greek government, opens up the way for Greece’s active participation in efforts to rebuild Ukraine, and particularly in Odessa, the Black Sea city with strong cultural and historic ties to Greece.
