Greece continues to evacuate citizens from Lebanon as fighting escalates

Eleven Greek citizens and their family members have been successfully evacuated from Lebanon, arriving in Larnaca on a chartered flight organized by the Republic of Cyprus, according to a statement from the Greek Foreign Ministry posted on the social media platform X on Saturday.

The operation was made possible with the support of the Greek and Cypriot embassies in Beirut.

Upon arrival in Cyprus, six of the evacuees were repatriated to Greece under the supervision of the Greek Embassy in Nicosia, with coordination from the Foreign Ministry’s Crisis Management Unit.

The ministry expressed its gratitude, stating, “We thank the Republic of Cyprus for their support and swift response.”

The Israeli military issued new evacuation orders for communities in southern Lebanon on Friday, suggesting that it may expand the ground operations launched earlier this week against the Hezbollah militant group.
