Gerapetritis to meet French counterpart on Monday
Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis will meet with his French counterpart, Stephane Sejourne, in Athens on Monday at 3.45 p.m.
The French foreign minister’s visit comes amid controversy over Germany’s decision to tighten border controls in response to a surge in immigration. This issue is expected to be a key topic of discussion during the meeting.
The agenda will also cover regional issues, including the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as the EU accession process for the Western Balkans.
Following the talks, both ministers will address the press at 5 p.m.
In 2021, Greece and France signed a defense pact that commits both countries to mutual assistance in the event of an external threat.
