Government spokesman warns against perils of misinformation

Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis discussed the rapid spread of misinformation during a seminar on fake news.

He recounted personal experiences, including an online attack following his remarks on a concert held recently in memory of the victims of the 2023 Tempe train accident.

Marinakis was accused of disrespecting the victims and claiming that the concert organizers were trying to whitewash Hamas—allegations he firmly denied.

He also condemned the damaging effects of fake news on both political and national affairs, calling on the media, government, and institutions to unite against those who distort the truth.
