YIAROS PRISONS: The justice minister, Mr Constantine Papaconstantinou, has made a statement emphasizing that the building on the island of Yiaros holding 1,000 prisoners is in good condition and suitable for housing this number in sanitary conditions. Necessary additions will be made in due course. (…) Various issues have been raised by inmates, both individually and as a group, some of which will be solved on the spot, while others will be give due consideration. CYPRIOT STRUGGLE: Nicosia, 13 – There was another attack by a group of armed Cypriot patriots against a British military patrol on a steep slope in the village of Lefka on Mount Troodos today. One of two jeeps heading out of Lefka toward the village of Pedoulas struck a land mine and exploded, while the other was attacked with light weapons. As a result of the attack, one British soldier was killed and an unknown number were injured. SIXTH FLEET: The American Information Service has announced that an amphibious battalion belonging to the Sixth Fleet will visit three Greek ports during the last two weeks of April and the first week of May.
