Pending issues

The previous administration not only left political issues pending; it also allowed criminal cases to fester, such as those relating to terrorist attacks that have yet to be solved.

These cases are not just about the prestige of the country’s law enforcement services. The networks behind this kind of organized crime pose a real threat to Greece’s security and image. And this comes at a time when the country is touting itself as having returned to normalcy after a long and troubled period of financial and social upheaval.

A real signal that normalcy has indeed returned to Greece would be for the state to show that it now has the ability to enforce the law.
Moreover, it must not waste any time in displaying its commitment to ensuring that those who undermine democratic order end up facing justice.
