A moral obligation
The plans that are being discussed about the Europe’s migrant and refugee problem are not at all pleasant.
Admittedly, it is a huge problem that has brought the European continent to an impasse. At the same time, though, the European Union is resorting to “solutions” that have nothing to do with the continent’s so-called long humanistic tradition.
Greece, a southern country of first arrival, is also faced with huge danger as it serves, geographically, as an entrance point to Europe, and further runs the risk of receiving migrants and refugees that will be returned from fellow EU member states.
The fact that there appears to be a shortage of solidarity and the necessary will from Greece’s partners to resolve the issue in the most humane way possible makes matters even worse.
The government is morally obliged to stand firm against any “proposal” that will seek to transform Greece into a warehouse of souls.
