Honesty is power
Achieving consensus over key national issues requires honesty, systematic efforts and a healthy dose of political bravery.
It is near impossible to build bridges over land mines that have been planted intentionally and in large numbers by the government over a very long period of time.
The notorious lack of consensus that has hampered the country from the very beginning of its protracted economic crisis has brought painful and counterproductive results, to say the least.
Greece’s interests have also been forever compromised by the intentional sowing of division. The leftist-led government has deployed this strategy of fomenting divisions in a bid to weaken its political opponents, but has done so to the detriment of the country and its interests.
A deeply divided country projects an image of reduced strength and potency to its opponents, but also fuels the rhetoric of extremists and the enemies of democracy.
