Wise warnings

During his first term in office, former US president Barack Obama warned American students that anything they put on the internet would follow them their entire lives and that they should exercise caution.

In his recent interview with Britain’s Prince Harry, Obama spoke of the prevalence of misinformation and the strengthening of prejudices through social media.

These were wise warnings against what Obama described as the “Balkanization” of society, but the issue now is finding the right solutions, and how they can be implemented on a global scale.
