Give Greece some breathing room
Greece is facing fatal developments that may see it outside the eurozone, a fact that would, according to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras himself, be tantamount to an implosion.
Tsipras is doing what’s right for the country but he is sacrificing his party.
The only solution is a new government that will take on the task of ensuring that Greece remains in the common currency. Ideological and other differences need to be set aside in the service of the national interest, which, after all, is also supported by the majority of the people.
It has already become more than clear who has a true sense of responsibility in the government and who does not from developments over the weekend.
Now it is up to Greece’s partners and lenders to give the country the breathing room it needs to make things work.
