Weighing decisions
The coalition government will be required to show major composure in the coming weeks as crucial negotiations with the country’s partners and lenders get under way.
The red lines which have been drawn by Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and the Cabinet are sufficiently clear.
Greece’s partners are fully aware of the country’s current social and political reality.
They know, presumably, that the imposition of further irrational pressure on the country could lead to political turmoil and a prolonged period of instability.
Clearly all those involved in the situation must accept their responsibility and weigh the dangers that could derive from each and every decision they take.
In any case, what is certain is that when the troika again massively increases the estimate of Greece’s fiscal gap for the coming year and when the discussion regarding the country’s sovereign debt is postponed until after the European Parliament elections, Greece cannot be accused of being the one taking matters to extremes.
