Clean up the city first

The citizens of Athens elected a mayor to address the pressing issues facing their city. This requires practical solutions and ongoing oversight. Ideally, political ambitions should have been expressed after the mayor had tackled the everyday challenges of urban life.

The citizens are watching closely and judging rigorously. As in previous instances, they have made their feelings known by effectively declaring, “Clean up the streets first, and then ask for our vote.”
