Distortions in food prices
The correct government initiative to control the “selective” pricing by multinationals in Europe’s markets must be complemented by comprehensive inspections into the distortions in the domestic market.
When it comes to food, in particular, authorities should inspect all the links in the primary sector’s supply chain, from fertilizers and animal feed to intermediaries and the supermarket shelf. The problem is not new, but now it has become explosive.
