Window dressing won’t cut it

The natural disasters that have slammed Greece in recent months have underscored the vital role of regional and local government.

Given how raw the effects of incompetence at that level are, it is impossible not to feel disappointed by the fact that many combinations for the upcoming local elections consist of sundry celebrities.

Communities need people who know what they’re doing and who have a sense of duty; not window dressing.
