Something is changing in the management of forest firefighting. The government ensured the presence of a special force of European forest rangers throughout the summer. 

This is a positive development since they have shown in recent large fires that they can work effectively. 

The country is facing a major, asymmetric threat. Improving professionalism, focusing on continued training and ensuring European assistance are key to achieving better protection.
