A good sign
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias’ planned visit to Ankara on Thursday is already – without weighing the outcome – a positive development.
It is a sign that the channels of communication with the neighboring country are working; these have always been an essential factor in avoiding unnecessary tension by at least allowing one side to know what the other is thinking.
No one in Athens appears to be under any illusions about Ankara’s intentions, but it certainly helps for the two sides to meet at the table of discussions rather than directly in the air or at sea.
