Blaze contained in Marathon

Emergency crews have successfully contained a wildfire that broke out at noon on Monday in the Vranas area of Marathon (also known as Marathonas), in eastern Attica.

The blaze, which spread through scrubland, was tackled by 34 firefighters with eight fire engines, along with numerous volunteers. They were assisted by three water-dropping helicopters.

No damage has been reported.
