Merchant Marine Minister Giorgos Voulgarakis is to be replaced by Anastassis Papaligouras. The latter is essentially seen as a safe pair of hands. He served as justice minister during the current New Democracy government’s first term in office, between March 2004 and September 2007. He was first elected to Parliament in 1981 and is the son of the late Panayiotis Papaligouras, a respected conservative politician who served in various government posts.
