Will prompts fatal dispute

An 87-year-old man died in a Thessaloniki hospital yesterday hours after shooting his 47-year-old daughter-in-law and then turning the gun on himself following a dispute over the inheritance of his recently deceased son. The 47-year-old was in critical condition yesterday after she underwent an operation to treat serious chest injuries sustained in the shooting. According to police in the northern prefecture of Pella, the 87-year-old shot his daughter-in-law in his store in the small town of Skydra early yesterday morning following a dispute over what the woman had been due to inherit from her husband, who recently passed away. The elderly man shot the woman twice in the chest with his pistol before shooting himself, police said. Doctors at Edessa hospital said the woman had been transferred to the intensive-care unit late yesterday.
