Video arcade owner to compensate parents
The parents of a schoolboy arrested for playing illegal slot machines in a video arcade have been awarded compensation from the establishment’s owner, who allowed the 15-year-old in, despite the fact that the legal age of entry is 18. Following the boy’s arrest, a juveniles’ court decided that the unsupervised boy should be removed from his parents’ custody. In a decision made public yesterday, the plenary session of the Supreme Court, Greece’s highest criminal court, accepted that the parents – whose name was not made public – lost custody of their child as a result of the video arcade operator’s illegally allowing him entry and were therefore due compensation.
