Reality TV is in a one-on-one battle
The battle between the two reality shows, Antenna’s «Big Brother 2» and «Bar» on Mega Channel, is hanging in the balance, with the war being waged in the arenas of sexual innuendo and semi-revelations. The expected flood of people to the Hydrogeios nightclub which is hosting Mega’s reality show did not take place; instead, the opening night of «Bar» witnessed a demonstration by the residents of Galatsi. Despite stern warnings by the National Radio and Television Council (ESP), which last Tuesday said it would take unspecified disciplinary action against Mega and Antenna, both shows are resorting to make-believe, artificial sex – or rather, the promise of sex. Thus, love has now joined youth and a sense of community in being cheapened for use as a marketing tool by the most cynical and ruthless.
