Workers at ailing state airline Olympic Airways protested yesterday against plans to privatize the company, using a blown-up cartoon by Kathimerini’s Ilias Makris, which depicts Transport Minister Christos Verelis as a butcher hacking an airplane into pieces and trying to hide the remains. The protest outside the Economy Ministry in Athens was accompanied by a three-hour work stoppage. A plan to privatize Olympic fell through last month, when the remaining bidder could not come up with guarantee funds.
