Big Brother reject takes to the cloister
Appalled by his last-minute rejection by the producers of Greece’s Big Brother show, a young cook from Rhodes has shut himself up in a monastery to pray for a second break in reality TV, reports said yesterday. From his cell in the monastic community of Mount Athos, in northern Greece, Christos Psaroulis, 25, is now praying for a slot in the third round of Big Brother, or some similar show. «I begged the Holy Virgin to give me a second chance,» the theological school graduate told Eleftherotypia daily. «The show will help me to gain publicity, and above all to do something in the field of cookery. I also want to promote my island.» According to the Rhodes Dimokratiki newspaper, Psaroulis had been told by Big Brother producers in Athens that he was certain to be selected for the show’s second round. But he fluffed his lines in a bout of nerves, and was dropped.
