More upheaval this week as rail workers strike

Following last week’s transport upheaval, commuters are to face fresh woes on Tuesday, when railway workers are set to stage a series of work stoppages, and on Wednesday, when they are planning a 24-hour strike, demanding new collective labor contracts.

The union of railway workers is planning three three-hour work stoppages on Tuesday – from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., 1 to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight – before scaling up their action with a full-day walkout on Wednesday.

During the stoppages and strike there will be no services between the Doukissis Plakentias metro station and Athens International Airport.

Unionists have spoken out against “unacceptable” delays in the drafting of a new labor contract.
