Kathimerini says journalists will not cower in fear
Kathimerini newspaper issued the following statement in response to the bombing attack on the headquarters of Skai TV and Kathimerini newspaper early Monday morning:
“The terrorist attack on Skai and Kathimerini will not make us cower. We will keep operating with professionalism, independence and objectivity.
“We thank all the anonymous citizens and public figures for the countless messages of support we have received. They give us the strength to continue, just as the paper has for the past 99 years, with the sole exception of the dictatorship period (1967-74).
“We hope this sick phenomenon of targeting the media will stop right now as it is a danger to democracy, and more.
“Those behind these attacks on the media, as well as the state, which is responsible for protecting pluralism and freedom of information, need to acknowledge the gravity of the situation.”
