UK Ambassador blasts Koufodinas leave decision
UK ambassador to Greece Kate Smith voiced her strong opposition to the second furlough granted on Friday to November 17 hitman Dimitris Koufodinas.
In a message on Twitter the British diplomat wrote: “It's extremely disheartening to see an unrepentant convicted terrorist coming out of prison again.”
Smith went on to express her respect for Greek justice but added her serious concern for victims' families.
Independent Greeks (ANEL) deputy Dimitris Kammenos, who has repeatedly opposed the corrective policy of the government his party supports, told Ant1 television on Koufodinas’s 48-hour leave that “as a citizen I am ashamed, as a politician I am further ashamed.”
