ND’s Georgiadis reacts to Koufodinas fresh jail leave
New Democracy vice president Adonis Georgiadis has criticized a decision by prison authorities to grant a two-day furlough to convicted November 17 terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas.
“They are no even keeping up the pretences anymore,” Georgiadis tweeted on Thursday.
Greece’s SYRIZA-led government is routinely accused by the conservative opposition of being soft on anti-establishment groups with roots in leftist radicalism and anarchy.
Koufodinas, who is serving several life terms for his role in the extreme left terrorist group that was dismantled by Greek authorities in 2002, was granted a furlough for the first time in November. The decision sparked strong reactions from the families of the victims, the political opposition, as well as American and British officials.
