Explosion outside bank branch at Gyzi in Athens
A Piraeus Bank branch on Alexandras Avenue at Gyzi in Athens was the target of an attack with gas canisters in the early hours of Friday.
The explosion around 4 a.m. resulted in cracks on the branch’s windows.
Police said the aim of the assailants was not to rob the bank but just to inflict damage on it, and added it has sent its explosives experts on site.
The assailants’ moves have been recorded by cameras, but they had their faces covered, according to reports.
