Mother of child found alone in apartment fire charged
An Athens prosecutor has filed charges of endangerment against a woman whose 1-year-old child was found alone in the family apartment by firefighters called to put out a blaze in the early hours of Wednesday.
The child was unharmed in the fire in the downtown Attikis Square apartment, but was found completely alone in its bedroom by firefighters after they doused the flames, at around 2.30 a.m.
An aunt living in the same building reportedly accompanied the child to the hospital, where doctors gave the all-clear, with the 35-year-old mother turning up shortly after.
