Katrougalos sees ‘window of opportunity’ in FYROM name dispute
Political developments in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and Greece have created “a window of opportunity” to resolve the name dispute between the two Balkan neighbors, Greek alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Katrougalos has said.
“There seems to be a window of opportunity, created by the shift [in FYROM] which is no longer pursuing the nationalist tactics of recent years,” Katrougalos told Thessaloniki’s Praktoreio FM on Wednesday, while praising the role of Greece’s left-led administration in reviving the name debate.
“We do not believe in passing the buck on to the next [government],” he said.
