Tsipras, Anastasiades hold telephone conversation ahead of Erdogan visit
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades have held a telephone conversation ahead of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Athens and Thrace on Thursday and Friday, according to a report by Cypriot state broadcaster RIK.
The Cyprus issue will be one of the issues at the top of the agenda during talks in the Greek capital before Erdogan visits the Muslim minority in Thrace.
The latest round of reunification talks broke down at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana in July.
Athens is expected to propose a fresh round of peace talks and, analysts say, Erdogan’s visit could be a test for Ankara’s intentions.
