Dental school students could lose semester
Students at the Athens and Thessaloniki schools of dentistry are at risk of losing the entire semester as their teachers have been on strike since mid-September in protest at a recent law calling on them to deposit 7 percent of profits from their private practices into university research funds.
The regulation was first introduced in 1997, but the percentage has been systematically reduced by successive legislation since, leaving a 100,000-euro shortfall that dental professors are being called to fill.
