Tsipras-Macron discuss French investments
French investments in Greece and eurozone reforms were the key topics of conversation at a working breakfast between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Friday.
The two leaders did not make any comments following the meeting, but in an interview with Le Figaro, the Greek premier spoke of the need to “democratize European institutions… to stop making decisions behind closed doors.”
“Europe cannot function like a discussion forum for leaders and technocrats, where whatever the most powerful party wants ultimately happens,” he said, taking a swipe at Berlin.
Tsipras traveled to Brussels later on Friday for an informal EU summit, where he briefed European Commission President Jean-Paul Juncker on the deadly floods that claimed 21 lives and destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses in western Attica last week.
