PM asks to postpone House discussion on Saudi defense deal as he heads to Paris
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras wrote to parliamentary speaker Nikos Voutsis on Wednesday to request that a House discussion scheduled for the following day on a controversial defense deal with Saudi Arabia be postponed.
Tsirpas, according to sources, said that he wants to be present at the discussion on a deal of around 70 million euros with Saudi Arabia for missiles and bombs that has seen the government come under fire amid allegations that it was not conducted transparently.
The Greek prime minister is expected in France on Thursday, where he will receive the award for Political Courage from the magazine Politique Internationale. He is also scheduled to speak at the Paris Bar Association, which has awarded him the prize for European Engagement.
