Vandals flee with cash after detonating ATM in Athens suburb
Unidentified vandals planted a homemade explosive device next to the ATM of a branch of National Bank on a main road in Nea Peramo, in the western outskirts of Athens, early Tuesday morning, causing an explosion that destroyed the device and caused serious damage to the bank's interior.
The perpetrators fled with the cash boxes inside the machine though it remained unclear how much they netted.
A similar device was planted outside a bank ATM outside a supermarket in Kalyvia, southeast of Athens, on Monday morning but it destroyed the cash boxes as well as the machine.
