More autumnal weather expected on Monday

Unusually warm conditions will be giving way to more customary autumnal weather as of Monday, the national weather service, EMY, has said, though Athens will be spared the worst of it.

EMY has forecast showers and storms on Monday in northern and western parts of the country, spreading on Tuesday to the eastern coast of mainland Greece and the Peloponnese.

Temperatures are expected to drop quite significantly across Greece as this cold front sweeps in from Italy, but particularly in the mountains of the north and west.

The Greek capital, however, is only expected to get a smattering of drizzle and daytime lows in the 20-Celsius region.
