Opposition calls for House committee on jet upgrade deal
Opposition New Democracy's shadow minister for defense, Vassilis Kikilias, on Friday called for Parliamentary's defense committee to convene over the government's recent announcement of a deal to upgrade the country's F-16 fighter jet fleet.
Kikilias conceded that while upgrading the air force fleet is imperative, the “haphazard” way in which the left-led government has presented the deal with the United States is cause for concern.
The opposition official said that lawmakers and the public need to know exactly how much the deal will cost and what exactly it will entail.
